First Friday Getaways @ Your Library
                      February 4, 2011      5-8PM    Family Game Night

Join us for a fun-filled evening of board games, puzzle challenges and a jigsaw
puzzle contest. Bring your own games or borrow one of ours. Refreshments.

Each month (excluding July & August) we will offer opportunities for a fun
evening for Families, Adults, Teens, and Tweens. Watch for more First Friday
specials.


March 4th      5-8PM        Dinner & a Movie
Bring the family and enjoy pizza for dinner and a new release movie.
Sign-up is required (to make sure we have enough pizza).

Citizen Science Volunteers Needed!
Spring 2010 marked the beginning of the second year of Canterbury’s
participation in the Connecticut Audubon Society’s Citizen Science Volunteer
Monitoring Program, a partnership with the Canterbury Public Library and the
US Fish and Wildlife Service. In 2009, 24 volunteers contributed 211 volunteer
hours collecting conservation data for five Citizen Science projects.
Join us and
make 2011 a banner year.

USFWS grant.

Introduction to Vernal Pools
Sunday, February 13, 2011    1:30-4:00 PM

Paula Coughlin, from the Pomfret Audubon Society, will discuss the importance
of monitoring vernal pools and how to become a trained volunteer. After a short
talk at the library the group will carpool to the Kinne Perserve in Canterbury,
(weather permitting) and view a vernal pool.

Library Building Project
We have been awarded a grant in
the amount of $793,000 to build an
addition to our library.
The grant must go through a bonding
process before any funds are
released.
We are hoping to raise the remainder
of the funds we need through
donations and other grants to
complete our building process.
